Changes in OKR visibility and sharing in IMPACT

Hey, there 👋.

You asked, and we did it. We added visibility options to OKRs, so that you can control who can view and edit each OKR.

The new update is effective from September 29, 2020.

Before the update

Before, all OKRs were public. Any user could view and edit all OKRs, regardless of their role in the workspace.
Any team member could join/leave any team.
You could assign Objective only to the team (not to the user).

After the update

With the update, we made several important changes:

Now only Admins, HR admins, HR managers can edit team members. Standard users cannot join/leave any team.
We introduced individual OKRs — now you can assign Objective to the team and user (not only to the team).
We introduced the "Public" and "Private" OKR visibility setting.

Who can view and edit new OKRs:

Public team OKRs:

👀 View: all
✍️ Edit: team members + Admins

Private team OKRs:

👀 View: team members only
✍️ Edit: team members only

Pubic user OKRs:

👀 View: all
✍️ Edit: user + manager(s) + Admins

Private user OKRs:

👀 View: user + manager(s)
✍️ Edit: user + manager(s)

note: "manager(s)" means all the managers up the hierarchy.

Additionally, every OKR can have Collaborators — an option to add any user that you want to be able to view and edit this Objective.

Here's a quick table for reference:

What happened with your existing OKRs?

They all remained "Public". Feel free to edit/update them as you see fit.

If you're not able to edit some of the OKRs, ask Admins to add you to the respective team, assign you as a manager of the user, or add to OKR collaborators.

You'll see a 🔒 icon next to the Objectives that you can view, but not edit.
